Mounds View Wedding Photographer | Laura & Bob {Married}
Thursday, May 22, 2014
Hello!
I’ve got another fabulous wedding for you today! The happy couple is Laura and Bob, two people that anyone would love to know. These two have known each other for 6 ½ years. They met at a Halloween Party in 2007 (which I happen to know is one of the bride’s favorite holidays) and now they have made their home in the Halloween Capital of the World – how’s that for “made for each other”?!

The wedding was truly creative and special. Laura and Bob are not a very traditional couple and their wedding suited them perfectly. As Laura explains it, “I always thought I wanted a wedding where the groom did not see me until I walked down the aisle, and then over the years I decided that is not what I want. I wanted us to be together throughout the entire process. We picked out outfits together, the place, the food, everything. The girls and Bob all got ready together and off to the photos we went. Felt like a big family, loved it! So much of the wedding did not include the typical traditional things; Bob and I walked in together for the service, we did not do a bouquet toss or garter removal, we chose not to do a dollar dance. This was just about celebrating our union together with our family and friends. It truly turned out perfect! Makes me happy!! I would not change a thing. ”
The wedding and reception were both held at
The Mermaid – Atlantis Room.
There
were so many great details that made up their special day – their
theme song was “Groovy Love” by Phil Collins and they even had custom Converse sneakers designed for the wedding party to match! Gorgeous flowers were made by
Main Floral in Anoka and the dance music was provided by the band the
Lid Twisters! Laura and Bob had custom cookies made in their likeness for their awesome favors – definitely a favorite of the day. Laura highly recommends
Parker’s Crazy Cookies!
A very special touch was the beautiful Button Bouquets for the Bridesmaid’s and the Brooch bouquet that Laura carried – both made by Laura’s sister, Amy. The brooches came from Laura’s dad, sister, and other special people in their lives and the buttons from her sister, friends, and antique stores. What a lovely, personal touch!
I asked Laura to share a little advice to help other brides planning their wedding. She said, “You need to plan for you as a couple. This is your day! Don’t have regrets – go for it the way that is most meaningful to the two of you! Don’t get hung up on the small things. Relax and enjoy each other. This is a time for you to celebrate each other and make it what you want as a couple!”
This wedding was absolutely all about Bob and Laura – from the fun, creative photos (including props Bob made in his workshop) to the ceremony that was performed by a dear friend to the smiles and joy on all of their friends and families’ faces. Wish you could have been there, too, blog readers. At least you can live through the pictures!
Fabulous!! ❤️
Fantastic photos and what great, unique ideas! It makes me want to get married all over again!!!!
