New Boudoir Studio Commercial | Minneapolis Boudoir Photographer

I recently worked with the hugely talented production team at Forever Bride to film the first boudoir studio commercial for Studio Starfish and am so delighted to share with you the process and the final product!

To be honest, the idea of making this video absolutely terrified me. I kept rescheduling the shoot telling myself I just needed a few more decorations in the studio to make it better or I didn’t have the right script yet, etc., etc. The real truth was, I felt like a complete fraud with my message of confidence and inner beauty for women and here I was having completely lost my own confidence and embarrassed about my appearance. For those of you that know me, you know that all the way through my early twenties all I ever wanted to be was an actress – I studied theatre in college and even made it to New York and performed off-broadway and a small bit of TV commercial roles. I loved performing and being on stage. I sang, danced, acted. I had so much confidence and self-assurance. Somewhere along the line, I stopped. I gained some weight, I got older, I changed. I don’t sing, I don’t perform anymore and although I usually don’t think about it – sometimes I really miss it. Most of the time I see myself as a creative & strong woman – I love my life and who I have become. But there are times when I’ll catch a glimpse of my body in a window or in a photo and I’ll catch myself asking “who is that?”; which generally explains why I have found myself living more behind my camera than in front of it at this point in life.

As I have been shooting boudoir for the last few years, I truly treasure working with women and it has made me realize that we all have some “flaw” that we want to minimize. My job has become “maximizing” all the OTHER things about a person to bring out their strengths and confidence and to make them feel truly beautiful and fabulous. And when it happens – it is absolutely magical! The transformation in a person when they no longer see their flaws and they truly only see their awesomeness (for some, it may be for the first time) has changed me.

Yes, I still struggle with my own issues, but as I was writing the script for my boudoir studio commercial, I was able to sit down and reflect on what I love about what I do and why I want to continue to do it. It is a personal passion for me to help women see themselves how they should be seen and in the process, I hope to continue to remember to see myself the same way.

As you watch the video, you can see and hear my nervousness, my goofy facial expressions and my double chin and you know what – I’m okay with it.  It’s 100% authentically me and hopefully you can also see and hear the passion in the message and the fun I have while I’m shooting. I love what I do and I believe in it! If you’d like to see more photos from this shoot, view the Studio Starfish Boudoir Studio Commercial Gallery on Pixieset. A special, heartfelt thank you to Forever Bride for making the filming and production process so smooth and dare-I-say enjoyable! Make-up and Hair was provided by the uber-talented Melanie Rivers Beauty and the gorgeous Kayla Egle was the perfect model for the shoot.
